This is a review of Nafisa Badalova - 缅北强奸 alumni. She was among three winners of the TSPC competition announced in 2016 to conduct her research.

NAFISA BADALOVA:
芦It always happens when you have many topics to cover, many interviews to conduct and the only obstacle you face -is money. In 2016 I decided to research about the Kyrgyz migrants who live and work in Russia, the main focus of the research was the effect of migration on the marriage strategies and scenarios.
With the financial support that I got from TSPC in 2016, I was able to do my research in four cities: Kazan, Moscow (Russia), Bishkek, Jalal-Abad (Kyrgyzstan). More than 10 in-depth interviews were conducted from migrants and their wives. The interviews were very informative and detailed.
Overall, the research paper examined the life of Uzbek women who live in four different cities of Russia and Kyrgyzstan: Moscow, Bishkek, Almetyevsk and Jalal-Abad. The main focus is on women鈥檚 strategies, goals, expectations, and realities through a marriage institution. It analyzes their relationships with their husbands, children and other family member鈥檚 including their mothers-in-law. Research is based on ethnographic fieldwork conducted in these four cities in 2016.
TSPC gave me an opportunity to do a research in Kyrgyzstan and abroad, and presented it in the International Conference on Migration, where I met many researchers, professors and experts from different countries. By taking an opportunity, I would like to thank each member of TSPC and encourage young researchers to apply for the financial support禄.
