The number of students per class differs depending on the type of course. This is meant to ensure the effective use of the University鈥檚 classroom space, while at the same time not adversely affecting the quality of instruction. As a general rule the numbers are:
This rule does not apply to sports and individual music courses.
The number of students auditing a course is not taken into account when calculating the number of students in that course.
Exceptions to the minimum course sizes may be made when a given course is required of upper- division students to complete their major.
