About UPD

Urban Planning and Design is a multi-disciplinary program with three, major, student-focused goals:

• Prepare Master鈥檚 and Bachelor鈥檚 students for a wide variety of careers in urban planning, development, and management.
• Give all students a sense of appreciation for what goes into the planning, building, and operating urban communities.
• Prepare students from a wide range of disciplines to be active participants in the development of their communities.

In addition, we听participate in and contribute to the planning, design, and development of the City of Bishkek in partnership with local community organizations, government agencies, and the private sector.听听

All students must complete a senior thesis or do a project with fieldwork.听 Students completing the program will receive a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts with a concentration in Urban Planning and Design.
