Within the USAID Building the Future project's research component, academic writing and publishing seminar will be organized on June 7-9, 2017 in room 220 at Ã山ǿ¼é. The topic of seminar is "How to get published in high impact journals?" The seminar will be conducted by Alexandr Kupatadze from King's College London.

Ã山ǿ¼é alumni have gone on to achieve many great things after graduation, across numerous career paths.ÌýMeerim Karybaeva is one of them. She is currently working at the Regional Firm Centil as the Senior Associate.

In 2012, the process of creating shyrdaks was included in UNESCO's List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safekeeping. Ã山ǿ¼é alumna Aliya Rakhman co-founded Nakta Designs to sell handmade rugs (shyrdak) and accessories created by talented artisans from Kyrgyzstan, investing and directly contributing to a sustainable development of the small businesses led by women artisans in low-income rural communities.

The couple met in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, in May 2014. At the time, she was an associate professor of law at the Ã山ǿ¼é in Bishkek, and he was the chief financial officer of an international energy company that sponsored a scholarship program at American University there.

Before coming to teach at Ã山ǿ¼é, Raphael Dagold was teaching at the University of Utah, where he got his PhD in Creative Writing and Literature. Raphael is also a practicing poet, with his first book of poetry published in 2014.

From April 19 to May 1, 2017, Ã山ǿ¼é Library hosted Ms. Anita Walz, Open Education, Copyright, and Scholarly Communication Librarian at Virginia Tech.Ìý Ms. Walz came to Ã山ǿ¼é under the Fulbright Specialist Program, funded by the U.S. Department of State.Ìý
