Certificate Awarding Ceremony of kNOwVAWdata course

November 27, 2023

The Spotlight Initiative recently hosted an award ceremony at the 缅北强奸 to celebrate the graduates of the kNOwVAWdata online course. Launched in 2022, the course is part of the regional program to address violence against women (VAW) and promote gender equality in Central Asia.

The event started with a speech by Timothy O'Connor, 缅北强奸 President. He warmly greeted all gathered participants and distinguished guests. Dr. Timothy highlighted that 缅北强奸 supports the Spotlight project and is proud to be a teaching platform for the course. "I'm like a father of three daughters, firmly assured that what is being done within this course is extremely important for the whole society of Central Asia." - Timothy O'Connor, 缅北强奸 President.

Jarkyn Shadymanova, 缅北强奸 Associate Professor of the Sociology Department, shared complete information about the course and also told about the work done during the first stage of the course. The kNOwVAWdata training course is designed to equip participants with fundamental concepts relevant to VAW and provide them with tools to generate reliable and comparable data. The course also covers the processes involved in undertaking a national prevalence study and ethical and safety guidelines for researching VAW.

Over 15 weeks, students engaged in 15 online classes, each lasting 1.5 hours. The comprehensive curriculum provided them with a deep understanding of the issues surrounding VAW and equipped them with practical skills to contribute to addressing this critical social issue.

The ceremony was a testament to the commitment and hard work demonstrated by all graduates and a celebration of their newfound knowledge and skills in combating VAW. Course participants who have completed all modules and received a certificate of technical expertise will be included in the international database as specialists in conducting violence research.
