Associate Prof. Rustam Orozbaev from Applied Geology Dept., co-authored with Japanese scientists, has published a scientific article on the topic of "Micro-excavation and direct chemical analysis of individual fluid inclusion by cryo-FIB-SEM-EDS: Application to the UHP talc-garnet-chloritoid schist from the Makbal Metamorphic Complex, Kyrgyz Tien-Shan鈥 in Geochemical Journal, Vol. 52, pp. 59-67, which is indexed in the Web of Science and Scopus database. This paper challenges previous reports on the existence of a simple chemical system of aqueous fluids in metamorphic rocks of Central Asia. This is imperative because the misidentification of solute species introduces errors into salinity estimation, resulting in inaccuracy propagation in analytical processes using conventional techniques. As a result, a detailed petrographical description combined with accurate quantitative analysis involving advanced FIB-based sample-preparation and SEM-EDS analysis can be a powerful tool in fluid inclusion studies.
The Geochemical Journal Award is established by The Geochemical Society of Japan (GSJ) and presented annually to the author(s) of the most outstanding paper(s) appeared in The Geochemical Journal during the previous year.
