Dr. Ilker Corut, Assistant Professor of Sociology Department, has recently been awarded by the Association for the Study of Ethnicity and Nationalism (ASEN) and Nations & Nationalism for his article on ethno-political dimensions of patient dissatisfaction in the Kurdish region of Turkey.
The essay prize aims at encouraging young scholars to publish original research in ethnicity and nationalism. The prize was announced at the annual ASEN conference on 24thApril in Edinburgh.
Based on fieldwork in a small Kurdish province of Turkey, Ilker鈥檚 article reveals that patient satisfaction among an ethnically subordinated group with health services provided by a dominant ethnic group may be unavoidably informed and perhaps overwhelmingly determined by an awareness of the wider ethno-power context and its history.
