缅北强奸-USAID PROJECT: 鈥淏UILDING THE FUTURE鈥�

The Research Office is glad to provide an update on the successful launch of the USAID-funded project on research promotion at 缅北强奸. This project aims (among other goals) at strengthening the visibility of our university in the area of academic research. Within this project a call for research proposals among 缅北强奸 faculty and staff was announced on January 20, 2017. In accordance with the project agreement the following research areas were highlighted as priority topics: sustainable development and energy, security, business and investment, democracy and rule of law.听

Altogether, by 6 February there were received 19 research applications on various subjects from all major 缅北强奸 academic departments. All of the proposals were very interesting, relevant and academically robust. While selecting proposals for funding, the highest priority was given to those projects which had higher probability of being published in the international peer-reviewed journals (e.g. in Scopus and WoS databases) and specifically mentioned the publication strategy (e.g. titles of the journals for potential publications).

All application were thoroughly studied and evaluated by Expert Council specifically convened for this purpose. Based on results of such independent evaluation there were selected the following 7 research applications with total cost of 50听000 USD:

1. Baktyiar Asanov, Tatiana Vedeneva from Environmental Management and Sustainable Development Department on topic 鈥�Performance Evaluation of a Forced PV-powered Convection Indirect Solar Drier with Mesh Flat Plate Collector for Drying Qurut and Comparison of the resulting product with Sun Dried Qurut鈥�;
2. Jayarethanam Pillai, Jean-Baptiste Jault, Aureliu Sindila from Business Administration Deaprtment on topic 鈥�Feasibility of University-Led Research Consortium in the Case of the Countries within the Eurasian Customs Union. A Two Country Study, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan鈥�;
3. Elida K. Nogoibaeva, Steven Kessell, Kamila Mateeva, Meghan McCormack, Saniya Toktogazieva, Kanykei Kasybekova from Law division on topic 鈥�Country Assessment for the Kyrgyz Republic: Fair Trial Standards and Meaning in Local Context鈥�;
4. Emil Nasritdinov from Anthropology Department on topic 鈥�Structure and texture of Bishkek鈥檚 urban communities: Who has a right to the city?鈥�;
5. Nurgul Ukueva, Rahat Sabyrbekov from Economics department on topic 鈥�Sustainable energy consumption: findings from household survey in Kyrgyzstan鈥�;
6. Galina Gorborukova, Mehrigiul Ablezova, Shirin Tumenbaeva from Sociology on topic 鈥�Why do people not vote? A study of social factors influencing voting behavior of Bishkek and Osh residents鈥�;
7. Imanaliev Taalaibek, Burova Elena from Applied Mathematics and Informatics department 鈥�Mathematical and Physical Model Optimization of Dye Sensitized Solar Cell鈥�.

Nineteen full time faculty members will be involved in research from February till June 20, 2017 within USAID Building the Future project. Please join us in congratulating our colleagues and wishing them productive work that hopefully will contribute to original academic research and enhance 缅北强奸鈥檚 research capacity which is vital for academic excellence of our university in the increasingly globalized context. 听
