On September 5, 2015, the president of the 缅北强奸, Andrew Wachtel, gave a talk at the International Academic and Research Symposium 鈥淭he Legacy of the Epic as a Component of Stable Development during a Time of Societal Change.鈥� Wachtel鈥檚 talk was on 鈥溾�楳anas鈥� as a Product of the Soviet Union.鈥�
The symposium took place in the Hyatt Regency conference room and the National Academy of the Sciences of Kyrgyzstan over the course of two days, September 4 and 5. Participants of the symposium came from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Russia, Germany, and Japan.
The symposium opened with a recitation of Manas by the manaschi, followed by speeches from the Speaker of Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic Asylbek Jeenbekov; Prime Minister Temir Sariev; Minister of Culture, Information, and Tourism Altynbek Maksutov; and representatives from the Office of the President of Kyrgyzstan.
